The East India Company established the Initial Post Office in India in the year, 1722. Governor General who was responsible for the Postal System in India is Lord Dalhousie. The First General Post Office was opened in India in Kolkata in the year 1774. First Postal Stamp of India, Sinde Dawk which was issued in the year 1852. Headquarters of Indian Postal System is situated at New Delhi.
